Classmate Bob Dennis and I will celebrate 49th anniversary later this month. Bob owned a printing company in Westerville for over 20 years before retiring 5 years ago. Seriously into woodworking. Karen received her bachelors from OSU while working full time as senior real estate paralegal at Vorys Sater for 33 years . She then joined bob in the printing business. after 7 years working together they were still married and the business survived. Karen then managed the business loan center at Chase for 6 years before retiring in 2016. Looking forward to seeing all of you |

After graduation from Brookhaven, I attended The Ohio State University graduating with a B.S. in geology in 1973. I struggled a bit my first two years at OSU, but after a year of active duty in the Army (joined the Ohio Army National Guard in 1970) consisting of Basic Training and Signal School, I was ready to apply myself to my college studies. I learned to SCUBA while at OSU and have enjoyed diving ever since! After graduation from OSU I was eventually able to find employment during the recession at Dunbar Geotechnical Engineers and then the Ohio EPA. I worked at OEPA in the Division of Land Pollution Control about 6 years where I met several runners and joined the OEPA Corporate Challege team. I broke 5 min. for the mile while training with those guys! Ran my first marathon in 1984 in Columbus. Moved to Carlsbad, CA. (north of San Diego) in November 1984. Worked in Irvine, CA. as a Senior Hydrogeologist for about a year and a half before leaving that job and returning to school at San Diego State University to study Civil Engineering. Met up with the San Diego Hash House Harriers (a fun running group that enjoyed a few beers after their run) soon after arriving in San Diego. That is where I met my wife, Nancy, of 25 years. Nancy was also a student at San Diego State University studing Aerospace Engineering. She is currently working at the UCSD SuperComputer Center. She travels a lot nationally and internationally. Just before graduation from San Diego State I found a great job at the San Diego County Water Authority where I worked for 20 years as an Senior Enviromental Scientist and project manager in the Water Resources Department. I retired from that position in 2011 after 20 years of service. Now that I am retired, I can join Nancy on her business trips to some of the more interesting destinations! Nancy and I are both still enjoy running very much and recently completed a marathon in Duluth, Mn. both running fast enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon in April 2018! My first time, Nancy's second. Scratch one off my bucket list! Our son Julius (born just before our 30th Class reunion in 1997 ) is now running XC and track at the University of Washington on an academic scholarship. He will be a "redshirt" sophomore at UW this fall (2017). He just declared his major in Geology after starting out in Computer Engineering. Nancy and I both really enjoyed the 50th Class reunion and look forward to the 55th! |
